Beach Bag | Free Pattern

Now, I realise that we are fast heading into autumn and this is not really the season for beach bags, but I can put off autumn for at least a couple more weeks – I’m heading of to somewhere much more tropical..Sri Lanka!!

Our trip isn’t strictly a beach holiday, we are traveling around first, visiting Kandy and tea plantations, then off to the elephant orphanage and safari before hitting the beach for some much needed R&R!!  And this bag is not strictly a beach bag! This trip calls for a descent sized, sturdy bag, to carry water bottles, shawls, shades and any souvenirs picked up along the way, plus towels a books for the beach!!

I love Tanya Whelan’s Birdy fabric and teamed it with turquoise chevrons, the light, bright colours give it the beachy feel. The bag is fully lined with orange chevrons with a zipped pocket for those little bits and bobs!  I added a zip across the top to make it nice and secure.  I used iron-on interfacing (medium) to give it some structure.

I will be blogging more about our Sri Lanka adventure….
